Domingo Pilarte vs. Felipe Dias Colares

Round 1

The first fight on the card is a bantamweight bout between Domingo Pilarte and Felipe Dias Colares. The referee is Frank Collazo. They touch gloves and the fight is on. Pilarte opens with a low kick. Colares with a nasty body kick and he immediately clinches Pilarte against the cage. Colares with some knees to the thighs. Foot stomps by Colares. Pilarte answers with some elbows. Colares starts whacking away at Pilarte with punches. Knee to the face by Colares. Pilarte finally breaks free. Colares with another big kick to the body and he clinches Pilarte again. Colares takes Pilarte down with a body lock takedown. Colares passes into side control and then moves back into half guard. Pilarte tries for an armbar but Colares slips out. Colares starts landing some massive ground and pound on Pilarte. But Pilarte uses it as an opportunity to get back up. They clinch along the fence until the round ends.

Round 2

Round two begins with a touch of gloves. Colares with another kick to the body and then pushes Pilarte against the cage again. Pilarte uses a kimura to drag Colares to the mat but Colares breaks free. They stand back up and now Pilarte is looking to take the back of Colares. But Colares is able to reverse things and drag Pilarte to the ground. Pilarte is looking for a kimura and uses it to reverse positions. They are back up on the feet and Pilarte is once again looking to take the back of Colares. Pilarte lands a knee to the body on Colares and then drags him down the mat. Colares looks really tired now. Colares stands back up but Pilarte is still pushing him against the fence. They break. Colares with another kick to the body and he rushes in to push Pilarte against the fence. Pilarte is looking for that kimura move again but winds up on the bottom on the mat. Colares is on top landing elbows. Strong end to the round by Colares.

Round 3

Round three begins and Colares immediately lands a groin strike on Pilarte. The ref calls time. Pilarte recovers quickly and the fight resumes. Colares with another kick to the body. Pilarte grabs hold of Colares and pushes him against the fence. Pilarte takes the back of Colares and drags him to the mat. Pilarte has his hooks in and is working on a neck crank. Pilarte is having trouble putting Colares away. Colares is actually landing some strikes to the head of Pilarte while he looks for the choke. Pilarte is working on a rear-naked choke but it’s too little too late. We now head to the judges’ scorecards.

Low kick by Bautista. Son with a straight right that connects right on the chin. Low kick by Son. Low kick by Bautista. They clinch and Bautista lands a knee to the body. Straight right by Bautista. Son returns with a straight right. Son with a jumping knee. Kick to the body by Bautista. Son clinches Bautista against the fence but Bautista reverses positions. Son explodes and reverses position and they break. Bautista with a low kick. Jab by Son. He connects on a 1-2 as Bautista moves in. Close round.

Bautista changes levels for a double leg takedown but can’t get it and the round is over.

Now Son drags Bautista to the mat with a body lock takedown but Bautista stands right back up. Left hook to the body and head by Son and Bautista returns with a straight right. These guys are just slugging it out. Son digs in to the body yet again. Bautista lands a left hook to the body of his own. These guys are just swinging it out right now. Crazy fight. Nasty uppercut by Son. Bautista with a left hook. Knee to the body by Son. The final bell rings and the fight is over. What a fight.

Another bantamweight fight is on deck, this time between Ray Borg and Gabriel Silva. The referee is Dan Miragliotta. They touch gloves and the fight is on. Borg tries to get inside but Silva lands a right hook. Silva clinches Borg and lands a knee but this is what Borg wanted as he prefers to grapple. Borg pushes Silva against the fence. Borg is looking for a single leg takedown but Silva stuffs it and reverses positions. Now Silva is looking for a single leg but Borg looks for a guillotine and drops to his back. Borg can’t get it and now Silva is in top position. Silva looks to take the back of Borg but Borg explodes and escapes. Borg looks for a single leg again but Silva reveres positions and is now looking to take the back of Borg. Silva drags Borg to the mat. Borg scrambles and gets out of it but the round is over.

Round 2

Round two begins. Borg shoots for a double leg takedown and completes it. Now Borg is in top position but Silva scrambles and gets on top himself. Borg is looking for a guillotine choke and it looks pretty tight. Silva breaks free from the guillotine. Borg scrambles and gets to the fence but Silva takes the back of Borg. But Borg is able to scramble and escape. Now Borg has the back of Silva. Now Silva escapes and the fight is back on the feet. Borg immediately shoots for a single leg takedown and completes it. Borg takes the back of Silva again. He can’t get the choke but Borg should take the round.

Round 3

Round three begins. Silva immediately pushes Borg against the cage but Borg reverses position. Borg picks Silva up and slams him to the mat in thunderous fashion, ending up on top. Silva is able to explode and get back up. But Borg once again pushes Silva against the cage. He slams Silva to the ground for a second time this round. Silva gets back up and once again Borg slams him to the mat. Borg lands in side control and is now looking to take the back of Silva. Borg can’t get the rear naked choke but he continues to stick to Silva like glue against the fence and land some nasty punches. Borg ends the rounds punching Silva against the cage and he should get the decision here.

The third round begins and right now it could be in either guy’s favor. Hernandez shoves Trinaldo against the fence. They break. Trinaldo has been planted in the center of the Octagon while Hernandez has danced around him. Hernandez finally starts to pick it up near the end of the round but he just hasn’t landed much of anything. Weird fight, and who knows how the judges will score it.

High kick by Hooker. Left hook by Hooker and he drops Vick. Hooker rushes down to the mat and finishes Vick off with some nasty ground and pound for a huge knockout win.

Round 1

Next up is the co-main event between heavyweights Alexey Oleynik and Walt Harris. The referee is Jacob Montalvo. Harris lands a massive jump knee and then a huge straight left and Oleynik is down and out. Harris follows him to the mat and doesn’t even have time to land any more ground and pound as the referee jumps in and saves Oleynik. Wow, what a massive win for Harris, by far the biggest of his career.

Rafael dos Anjos vs. Leon Edwards

Round 1

We have finally arrived at the main event, a five-round welterweight bout between Leon Edwards and Rafael dos Anjos. Dan Miragliotta is the referee. Both men come out in the southpaw stance, which should make for an interesting matchup. Edwards explodes forwards with a combination of strikes. He grabs hold of dos Anjos and takes him down a body lock takedown. Edwards lands a nasty elbow from up down. Dos Anjos is looking to sweep Edwards but Edwards regains the full guard. Edwards lands a knee to the body. He is now looking to take the back but dos Anjos stands back up and breaks free. Dos Anjos lands a right hook to the body but Edwards returns fire with an elbow. Dos Anjos lands a low kick. Edwards clinches up dos Anjos and they break and the round is over.

Round two begins. Dos Anjos lands a straight left. Edwards returns fire with a right hook. Edwards drops down for a single leg takedown but dos Anjos stuffs it nicely. They clinch along the fence but break. Edwards lands a nasty elbow. Low kick by dos Anjos. Now dos Anjos pushes Edwards against the cage. They break and Edwards lands another big elbow. Dos Anjos lands a low kick and Edwards falls down to the mat. Dos Anjos lands on top of him and is working in half guard. Edwards is able to explode and get back to his feet. Edwards with a jab and then fires off a 1-2 combination. Low kick by dos Anjos. He lands a straight left. The round comes to a close.

Round 3

Round three begins. The doctor checks out the cut on the face of dos Anjos but says he’s okay to fight. Dos Anjos lands a kick to the body. He pushes forward and changes levels for a single leg takedown. Edwards stuffs it. He lands a straight left that re-opens the cut on dos Anjos. Another straight left by Edwards. Now Edwards lands a high kick. Dos Anjos changes levels and shoots for a double leg takedown but Edwards stuffs it and reverses positions along the fence. Edwards is pummelling the body of dos Anjos with punches. The referee decides to break them up because Edwards grabbed the fence. Front kick by Edwards. Dos Anjos shoots for a body lock takedown but Edwards reverses positions once again. They break and the round is over.

Round 4

Round four begins. Both men exchange punches right away. Dos Anjos mixes things up and lands a kick to the body. Low kick by Edwards. Dos Anjos moves in and lands a right hook to the body. Straight left by Edwards. He lands a vicious elbow. Straight left by Edwards. Dos Anjos moves forward and attempts a flying knee but Edwards catches it and throws him to the mat. Edwards ends up on top and is now looking for the back but dos Anjos is defending it nicely. Dos Anjos gets back to his feet but Edwards pushes him against the cage. The round is soon over.

The fifth and final round begins. Dos Anjos likely needs a finish if he wants to beat Edwards, who looks to have a comfortable lead. They touch gloves and the last round begins. Dos Anjos clinches Edwards against the fence. They break. Dos Anjos keeps pushing forward. Edwards grabs hold of him and pushes dos Anjos against the cage. Low kick by dos Anjos. He lands an uppercut. Dos Anjos continues to truck forward and try to win this fight in the last minutes. Low kick by dos Anjos. Right hook by dos Anjos. He throws a kick but Edwards catches it and clinches dos Anjos against the cage. The round is soon over, and Edwards just picked up the biggest win of his career to date.
