UFC Announces Summer Fight Night Shows in Atlantic City, Tulsa
The Ultimate Fighting Championship has plans to visit New Jersey and Oklahoma this summer.
UFC President Dana White on Saturday announced that the promotion will hold UFC Fight Night events on July 16 and Aug. 23 live on Fox Sports 1. The first event is slated to go down at Revel in Atlantic City, N.J., while the latter will take place at a to-be-announced venue in Tulsa, Okla. No matchups have been announced for either card.
The organization last visited Tulsa long before Zuffa bought the promotion, when UFC 4 took place at Expo Square Pavillion in December 1994. Royce Gracie earned arguably his most famous victory that night, submitting the much larger Dan Severn with a triangle choke nearly 16 minutes into their eight-man tournament final.
The UFC’s last visit to Revel occurred much more recently, as the promotion held UFC on FX 4 at the venue in June 2012. That show saw Gray Maynard outpoint Clay Guida in a five-round lightweight main event, with “The Bully” edging “The Carpenter” in a lackluster split decision.
