Terence Crawford, Egidijus Kavaliauskas Make Weight for WBO Welterweight Clash

Pound-for-pound boxing great Terence Crawford will return to action on Dec. 14 as he looks to defend his World Boxing Organization welterweight title against Egidijus Kavaliauskas.

Crawford (35-0, 26 KO) solidified himself as a historic boxer after he became the undisputed and lineal light welterweight champion of the world by unifying the WBO, World Boxing Council, World Boxing Association, and International Boxing Federation belts back in 2017. Since then, "Bud" has moved up to welterweight to claim gold in a third weight class. The Top Rank boxer has largely outclassed his opponents as he knocked out Jeff Horn, Jose Benavidez Jr. and Amir Khan in consecutive outings. Fans have been clamoring to see Crawford against the Premier Boxing Champions roster of welterweights (featuring the likes of Errol Spence Jr., Shawn Porter, Keith Thurman, and Danny Garcia), but boxing politics has made making those bouts complicated. Regardless, Crawford looked like a professional on the scales and weighed 146.8 pounds.

Instead, Crawford will be facing Lithuanian boxer Kavaliauskas (21-0-1, 17 KO). This is a huge step up for the undefeated "Mean Machine." The two-time Olympian is coming off a majority draw against Ray Robinson. A sizable +950 underdog, he'll be looking to shock the world on Saturday night, and came prepared as he weighed in at 146.6 pounds.

The co-featured bout of the night sees IBF lightweight champ Richard Commey (134.2) take on rising star Teofimo Lopez (134.4). Commey (29-2, 26 KO) is on a five-fight win streak and has knocked out has last four opponents. Meanwhile, Lopez (14-0, 11 KO) is a surging prospect that is taking his first shot at a world title. The defending champion is an underdog, as Lopez currently sits as a -235 favorite.

The three-bout main card will air live on ESPN tomorrow starting at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. Prior to that, preliminary action kicks off at 5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT on ESPN+.
