Patino has not fought since he dropped a unanimous decision to UFC veteran Roan Carneiro under the Shine Fights banner in September 2009. The 37-year-old owns a 2003 knockout victory over the world-ranked Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. Thirteen of his 20 career wins have come via KO, technical knockout or submission.
The Galvao-Patino bout will be streamed live on Sherdog.com, along
with the undercard matchup between recently crowned King of the
Cage heavyweight champion Daniel
Cormier and Jason
Riley.
A light heavyweight title bout pairing champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal with Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante will headline Strikeforce “Houston,” along with a showdown pitting Souza against Tim Kennedy for the vacant middleweight crown. The event will also feature a lightweight duel matching former EliteXC champion K.J. Noons with UFC veteran Jorge Gurgel and a heavyweight scrap between former World Wrestling Entertainment superstar Bobby Lashley and Chad Griggs.
