Harry Gene Goularte is accused of molesting a relative of Velasquez’s at a home daycare in San Martin, Calif. According to a criminal complaint, the 43-year-old Goularte was charged with one felony count of a lewd and lascivious act with a child under the age of 14. The victim’s name and exact relationship to Velasquez were withheld because the child is a minor and a victim of sexual abuse. In a separate report from NBC Bay Area, it is revealed through court documents that Goularte may have molested the victim “100 times.”

Goularte, who lives at the home that hosts a daycare business run by his mother, was granted supervised release by a judge on Friday, despite objections from the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, according to the report.

On Monday at approximately 3:15 p.m. local time, Velasquez allegedly fired shots at a vehicle carrying Goularte, his stepfather and at least one other person near the intersection of Monterey Highway and Bailey Avenue in Morgan Hill, Calif. Goularte’s stepfather was reportedly hit at least once by the shots, but is expected to survive after suffering non-life threatening injuries. San Jose Police are still investigating the case.

Velasquez declined an interview request from the Mercury-News. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday at noon local time.

In his most recent MMA bout just over three years ago at UFC on ESPN 1, Velasquez suffered a first-round KO loss to current divisional kingpin Francis Ngannou. The Salinas, Calif., native compiled a 14-3 mark during his MMA career, earning wins over the likes of Junior dos Santos (twice), Brock Lesnar, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Ben Rothwell, Cheick Kongo and Travis Browne. He was part of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) from 2019 to 2020 and has also competed for Mexican wrestling organization Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.
