McDermott, a five-time British Association of Mixed Martial Arts veteran, won two of his three bouts in 2016. Most recently, the Englishman scored a second-round technical knockout victory over Dan Konecke at Full Contact Contender 17 in Manchester on Sept. 24. McDermott owns a 7-4 professional mark, with six of his triumphs coming by KO or TKO.
McGeary is coming off the first defeat of his career, a lopsided five-round decision loss to Phil Davis in a light heavyweight title bout at Bellator 163. Prior to that, the 34-year-old Team Renzo Gracie product had won his first 11 fights, finishing all but one of his opponents inside the distance.
