Kevin Holland has been forced to pull out of a scheduled UFC on ESPN 9 clash against Daniel Rodriguez.

The 27-year-old Dana White’s Contender Series alum suffered an undisclosed injury in training that forced him to exit Saturday’s card. MMAjunkie.com was first to report the news. The promotion is currently seeking a short-notice replacement opponent to face Rodriguez. Holland was looking to fight for the second time in two weeks after scoring a 39-second TKO of Anthony Hernandez at UFC on ESPN 8.

“Sorry to everyone who was looking forward to the scrap,” Holland wrote on his Instagram Story. “I’ve done this rehab before and I hope to run through it as I did the last time. We will be back. First thing’s first, getting back healthy.”

Rodriguez is currently on an eight-bout winning streak that includes a submission of Tim Means in his Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 167 on Feb. 15. The 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu representative is 11-1 as a professional overall, with 10 of those victories coming inside the distance.

UFC on ESPN 9 is expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and is headlined by a welterweight duel between Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns.
