A heavyweight matchup between Strikeforce alum Brett Rogers and UFC veteran Philip De Fries will go down New Year’s Eve in Japan under the Inoki Genome Federation banner.
IGF officials recently announced the new addition to the card, which takes place at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo and is headlined by a heavyweight clash between Kazuyuki Fujita and Olympic judo gold medalist Satoshi Ishii.

Rogers, 32, began his career with 10 consecutive victories but has since posted a record of 3-5-1. A Strikeforce and Bellator veteran, “Da Grim” most recently competed on Russian soil, scoring a split decision win over nine-fight pro Evgeny Erokhin on Oct. 5.
De Fries, 27, has not fought since suffering a 19-second knockout to Matt Mitrione this past April at UFC on Fuel TV 9. The defeat marked the Brit’s second straight setback, as De Fries was also knocked out by Todd Duffee roughly one year ago at UFC 155.
