Bobby Green Describes Short-Notice Loss to Islam Makhachev as ‘Expensive Pain’
Bobby Green took plenty of confidence into his headlining showdown with Islam Makhachev at UFC Fight Night 202, but he ultimately met the same fate as many of the Dagestani grappler’s opponents.

Shortly after the loss, Green issued a brief statement on his Instagram story.
“Expensive pain – expensive pain,” Green said. “Wins and losses. Wins and losses. I just want to thank all my guys, all my peoples for riding with me. I apologize, but this is what it comes with when you throw this s— together, you know what I’m saying? It’s last minute. I put it together as much as I can guys. I appreciate you. The s—t we do for our families. Love you guys.”
The 35-year-old former King of the Cage champion has emerged as something of a fan favorite in recent years, winning five of eight Octagon appearances since 2020. His resume during that run also includes notable triumphs over the likes of Al Iaquinta and Clay Guida.
