All UFC 139 Steroid Tests Come Back Clean
All 12 fighters tested for steroids following UFC
139 had their drug screens come back negative, Sherdog.com
confirmed with a California State Athletic Commission official on
Thursday.
UFC 139 took place Nov. 19 from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The event was headlined by a potential “Fight of the Year” nominee between light heavyweights Dan Henderson and Mauricio Rua. When the dust settled after the five-round roller coaster, it was Henderson who emerged victorious via unanimous decision.
Both Henderson and Rua were tested for steroids after the event, as were Wanderlei Silva, Cung Le, Urijah Faber, Brian Bowles, Gleison Tibau, Rafael dos Anjos, Danny Castillo, Shamar Bailey, Ryan Bader and Jason Brilz.
Roughly two weeks ago, the CSAC announced that all 24 fighters taking part in UFC 139 tested negative for drugs of abuse like cocaine. In many cases, athletic commissions will screen main event competitors as well as the evening's winners. However, as evidenced by the UFC 139 tests, every fighter on the card is subject to the procedure.
