Serious about Fighting, Misaki Focuses on his Career

Fighting Acacio and Chute Boxe

Sherdog.com: I see. O.K., this time you’re fighting Daniel Acacio. Do you know about him?

Misaki: Well, I didn’t know about him. But I know now. He fought Takase-kun, and left that record.

Sherdog.com: Today we brought his fight record from our Fight Finder. He’s got a 9-1 record with some KOs, TKOs, and submissions. Pretty good record, actually. Do you analyze your opponent’s style before the fight?

Misaki: Yes, I do. I don’t think all you have to do is just execute your style. You have to check out your opponent well. And your fight should be adjusted to your opponent. You have to analyze your opponent to make your strong point work.

Sherdog.com: Last time you fought Jorge Patino from Chute Boxe and you beat him. This time you’re facing Daniel from Chute Boxe. If you win this fight, you might be called the “Chute Boxe Killer.”

Misaki: I don’t care about where my opponent belongs to. Somebody who’s set up in front of me is my opponent. So I’ll just eat what I was fed. I think they set me up against Daniel because Chute Boxe’s fight style and my style may make good fireworks in the ring. So it is such an honor to fight him. I think slugfest is much more fun than rolling around in the ring. You know, boom and bang is what people want and what I’d like to.

Sherdog.com: So you like stand-up better than ground?

Misaki: Yes. Basically yes. I like stand-up better. But this is a war, so I’ll use whatever weapon I can use.

Sherdog.com: Have you gotten any advice from Takase-san?

Misaki: Yeah, he told me that maybe my striking works against Daniel. Also he mentioned to me that Daniel has some unlimited power. But, I don’t really rely on his advice though because, let’s say he said my striking is good against Daniel, but if I trust it 100 percent I maybe f___ed up in the ring when my stand-up doesn’t work. So you never know about your opponents fighting ability until you face him. So I don’t really count the advice they give me. If they say, watch out for something. Then I may be careful about it. But, I guess, Daniel is a really good fighter. He piles up this many wins in his record so he should be very technical, and has got some spirit.

Sherdog.com: Chute Boxe fight style is very suited for PRIDE rules. Knee from sprawl, stomp etc. Do you train something special about it?

Misaki: If I’m calm I think I can handle any attack from him. Try to parry away that aggressiveness and his attack and try to hit him back. Or maybe I’ll stomp him back.

Sherdog.com: So how does your training go?

Misaki: I train five to six days a week. I train in the morning afternoon, and evening three times a day. Usually I train physical strength and conditioning in the morning, like walking or running, grappling or striking in afternoon at GRABAKA gym. And train boxing in the evening.

Sherdog.com: Then when is your off day?

Misaki: Saturday and Sunday. But 100 percent off is only Sunday. Actually I don’t run everyday. I do some new things two days a week. I can’t tell you now. But I do something special.

Sherdog.com: So you said you train five to six days a week. Do you work something else for living? Or do you live out of fighting?

Misaki: Yes, I only train and fight. That’s my job.

Sherdog.com: Now, in Bushido tournament, which they’re trying to have from this fall, Gono from your team is already fighting. So is there a possibility to fight him if you both are in the tournament and keep on winning?

Misaki: Yes, that could be happen.

Sherdog.com: Do you mind? A long time ago when I interviewed Kunioku, he said, sometimes, he wants to fight the guy from his team just to figure out who is stronger.

Misaki: I don’t think I need to fight my teammate just to find out which one is stronger. But, if I have to fight him as a man, I’ll fight as a man. As I told before, the one who’s set up in front of me is the one I have to fight.
