Former UFC welterweight and lightweight champion B.J. Penn was mere cannon fodder for flashy contender Yair Rodriguez as the Mexican ripped him to smithereens. Rodriguez’ unloaded a seemingly endless barrage of kicks to the legs, body and head of the Hawaiian, rocking Penn in the first.
As soon as the second round began, Rodriguez followed a right head kick with a right hook, flooring the Hall of Famer in the process. From there, Rodriguez unloaded an avalanche of punches until referee John McCarthy had no choice but to intervene just 24 seconds into the frame, ending Penn’s quest at featherweight.
