Undefeated Russian prospect Batradz Gazzaev will officially join the One Championship heavyweight division when he takes on Oumar Kane as part of the ONE 161 undercard on Thursday at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. Gazzaev, 30, enters the confrontation with a perfect 3-0 record, with all three of his victories having resulted in finishes inside two rounds. He prefers to finish opponents with heavy punches.
Gazzaev carries a respected résumé in freestyle wrestling, a discipline that forms the Russian’s base. He was a gold medalist at the 2013 European Nations Cup and trained under Artur Bazaev before joining Sergei Bolshakov’s stable, eventually earning the prestigious Master of Sport designation. Gazzaev made the most of his background in his transition to mixed martial arts, where he moves the action to the canvas as quickly as possible before unleashing a storm of punches on his grounded opponents.
An Alania Fighting Team representative, Gazzaev debuted as a professional mixed martial artist on July 10, 2021, when he wrecked Murat Guliev with a barrage of punches and elbows a little more than two minutes into their encounter under the Pravada Fighting Championship banner. He also stopped his next opponent, Sukhrob Muradov, with punches inside one round, then turned his attention to Rizvan Abdurakhmanov. They locked horns at Professional Fighting Championship 69, where Gazzaev prompted the stoppage with punches 1:37 into their Dec. 18 pairing at the CSC Express Arena in Rostov-On-Don, Russia.
