UFC on Fox 28 will be no exception, as Alvey moves up to 205 pounds to take on organizational newcomer Marcin Prachnio this Saturday at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. The 31-year-old Team Quest representative has lost two of his last three bouts but holds an 8-5 record since joining the UFC roster in 2014.
As Alvey prepares for his undercard battle with Prachnio, here are some of the numbers that have come to define him:
0: Pay-per-view appearances. Despite his success in the UFC, Alvey has yet to appear on a PPV card during his 13-fight run with the promotion. His booking at UFC on Fox 28 will continue his drought.
1: Performance bonus earned. Outside of the “Performance of the Night” award he was given for his first-round knockout of Cezar Ferreira at UFC Fight Night 61, bonus money has been hard to come by for Alvey during his career with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
1: Maximum Fighting Championship middleweight title defense to his credit. Before coming to the UFC, Alvey thrived in Canada’s MFC promotion. He won the middleweight title at MFC 38 with a fifth-round technical knockout of Jason South. Alvey then defended the 185-pound championship via fourth-round TKO against Wes Swofford.
1: No-contest on his resume. It was unconventional, as his fight with Paul Bradley at King of the Cage “Chain Reaction” on July 17, 2010 was stopped due to rainfall.
2: Appearances with Bellator MMA. Alvey went 1-1 with Bellator, defeating Karl Amoussou at Bellator 45 in May 2011 before losing to Vitor Vianna at Bellator 50 a little less than four months later.
4: Consecutive victories. Alvey’s longest winning streak in the UFC covered four fights, as he defeated Eric Spicely, Kevin Casey, Alex Nicholson and Nate Marquardt in succession between July 13, 2016 and Jan. 28, 2017.
6: UFC fights in a 12-month span. Alvey is one of two fighters in history to pull off the feat. Cerrone is the other.
84: Percent of takedowns stopped. Alvey has managed to remain on his feet for the bulk of his time in the UFC by snuffing out 37 of the 44 takedowns attempted against him, per FightMetric.
