Higo entered the RFA 32 main event as the prohibitive favorite and he proved by flattening fellow bantamweight Blumer with a single right hook a few minutes into their main event tussle. After trading shots early and trying for a takedown against the cage, Higo backed off and reloaded his fists. But when Blumer tried to come inside and exchange with the Pitbull Brothers fighter, Higo blasted him with a perfect right hook to the jaw.
The punch stiffened the MN Militia representative before he fell flat onto his back. Referee Travis Metteer immediately stopped the contest, preventing “Pitbull” from doing any more destruction. The official time of the stoppage came 2:58 into the fight.
The Prior Lake, Minn., fight fans weren’t too pleased with the co-main event, either, as local lightweight prospect Chad Curry was demolished by Albuquerque’s Landon Vannata in just 89 seconds. A right to the face dropped Curry and when he turtled up, Vannata teed off on his dizzy nemesis with elbows until referee Merrick Morlan stepped in. Vannata revealed that he broke his right hand when he dropped his foe.
Benjamin Smith did just enough to edge Craig Eckelberg via unanimous decision over three rounds. The welterweight attraction was largely devoid of action, but the Minnesotan was busier when he needed to be. Smith toppled the Milwaukee fighter with scores of 30-27 on all three cards.
Former "The Ultimate Fighter" contestant and Bellator fighter Dakota Cochrane dominated local welterweight Ben Neumann and won a unanimous decision. He was awarded the win via tallies of 30-27 on all three judges’ cards.
Lanky Omaha-based featherweight Clay Wimer survived an early knockdown -- he was almost out cold -- to rally in the second to triumph over local slugger Sean Richman. After taking his foe’s back, Wimer fished for the rear-naked choke but opted instead to pound away form behind until Metteer had no choice but to call off the assault. The official time of the TKO came at 3:16 of the second.
Logan Storley made quick work of local kid Marc Hummel, who was making his pro debut. After scoring a takedown immediately, Storley moved to full mount and unloaded an endless cascade of punches until the fight was finally stopped. The TKO came at the 3:17 mark, allowing the Arizona fighter to remain unbeaten
In the prelims, Benjamin Locken toppled Tye Ferguson via unanimous decision (30-27 x3) and Bobby Lee submitted Codie Kahler with a kimura at 1:44 of the third.
