The Ultimate Fighting Championship knew who to call when the need arose: Paul Felder.

The Roufusport standout will serve as a short-notice replacement for Islam Makhachev when he battles former undisputed lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos in the UFC Fight Night 182 headliner on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. A rising star in the 155-pound weight class, Makhachev withdrew with a staph infection on Nov. 8.

Felder, 35, last fought in February, when a split decision loss to Dan Hooker had him discussing the possibility of retirement. That line of thinking takes a backseat for now, as “The Irish Dragon” looks to improve upon his 9-5 record inside the Octagon. Dos Anjos, meanwhile, finds himself on the rebound after back-to-back defeats to Leon Edwards and Michael Chiesa at 170 pounds. Despite his four-year stay at welterweight, the 36-year-old Rafael dos Anjos remains one of the most accomplished competitors in UFC history at 155 pounds.

UFC Fight Night “Felder vs. dos Anjos”—which streams live to ESPN+ at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT—also features a welterweight co-main event matching Abdul Razak Alhassan with Kalinn Williams, a women’s strawweight affair pitting Kay Hansen against Cory McKenna and a middleweight scrap pairing Eryk Anders with Antonio Arroyo. In addition, ESPN+ will carry the entire undercard at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT, the seven-fight preliminary slate anchored by a catchweight confrontation between Brendan Allen and Sean Strickland at 195 pounds.
