Deiveson Figueiredo will rematch Joseph Benavidez for the 125-pound title in the UFC Fight Night 172 headliner on Saturday at the Flash Forum in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. They met previously on Feb. 29, when Figueiredo wiped out the San Antonio native with second-round punches. However, his failure to make weight—he checked in 2.5 pounds above the limit—left him ineligible to win the championship and forced a second meeting between the two. Widely regarded as one of the best fighters never to strike gold inside the Octagon, Benavidez owns a 0-3 record in UFC title fights.
UFC Fight Night 172—which streams live to ESPN+ at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT—will also feature a middleweight co-main event matching Kelvin Gastelum with Jack Hermansson, a lightweight clash pitting Marc Diakiese against Rafael Fiziev and a pair of flyweight scraps, as Ariane Lipski faces Luana Carolina and Alexandre Pantoja meets Askar Askarov. ESPN and ESPN+ are scheduled to cover the seven-fight undercard simultaneously at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT.
