Filho Home, Back in the Gym Soon

Paulo Filho (Pictures) responded well to treatment at a rehabilitation clinic and is ready to return to training, the WEC middleweight champion's manager, Jorge Guimarães, told Sherdog.com.

Filho is home in Niterói, Brazil. Doctors said the fact that he sought help and was determined to recover aided his quick improvement.

"The doctor has released Paulão from the rehabilitation center, and Monday he returns to train," Guimarães said. "Paulão is already running, making a diet, a set diet and from 102 kilograms he has already dropped to 95 kilograms. He is leading a normal life, is well motivated. About his return, the WEC will decide the ideal date, but he will be ready when they call."

Maldonado Finishes Falcão

Minotauro Team representative Fabio Maldonado (Pictures) was one of the major highlights at the March 15 Predador FC 9.

The show brought together about 2,000 fans to watch 10 fights. In the main event, Maldonado knocked out the tough Maiquel Falcão in the second round. In another superfight, Rafael Motta (Pictures) submitted Generson Denies by rear-naked choke in the first round.

For the first time, the Predador event held a tournament with eight fighters up to 77 kg (169 pounds). Charles Oliveira emerged as the champion, defeating three opponents to win the title and secure a fight for the belt against Mauro Chimento at a future event.

The 10th edition of Predador will be held in April.

Shooto Brazil 6 Taking Shape

André Pederneiras has almost completed the card for Shooto Brazil 6. As the event organizer, he promises eight fights for the show, which will be held April 19 in Rio de Janeiro. There will be a title fight at 70 kilograms (154 pounds) between Willamy Chiquerim and Geovani Diniz, and another match will be the awaited bout between Jadyson Costa and Danilo Cherman (Pictures).

Rio Heroes Champion Faces Luta Livre Standout

A winner of Rio Heroes who is known as one of the toughest fighters in Brazil, the experienced Pedro Santos will have a big challenge ahead April 10. He will face luta livre upstart André Santos in the main event of the Watch Out Combat Show in Rio de Janeiro. The event will be held in the excellent facilities of Delfim gym, and it will also include the participation of Flavio Alvaro (Pictures) and Willian Viana.

Ribeiro Preparing for WEC Debut

Scheduled to debut June 1 in the WEC, Will Ribeiro (Pictures) has been training hard. The fighter does not know whom he will face, but he believes it will be a tough battle.

"I am very ready for this fight," Ribeiro said. "I do not know who I will fight. I think it should be an American, but no matter who it is, I know that I will train much. This will be the fight of my life. I will give the maximum. I ask that God give me health to train and do what I know."

Ribeiro trains at the Nogueira brothers' training center and with Nova União under André Pederneiras.

"I am training for everything," he said. "I'm always training with Minotauro's team, and twice a week I train MMA at Nova União, which has improved my game much."

Alfaia, Torres Shine at Roraima Kombat 4

One of the most talented athletes on the Nova União team, Roni Torres was one of the major stars of Roraima Kombat, which took place March 9 in Boa Vista. Torres submitted Marcos Babuino with a rear-naked choke in the first round. In the main event, Marcelo Alfaia (Pictures) defeated Aluísio Baiano via decision.
