Frankie Edgar has now proven himself to be a contender in three different weight classes over the course his 13-year Ultimate Fighting Championship tenure.

“The Answer” made his bantamweight debut a success, prevailing against Pedro Munhoz over five hard-fought rounds in the UFC on ESPN 15 headliner at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night. A champion at lightweight and a title challenger at featherweight, Edgar is now a Top 10 fighter at 135 pounds.

Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC on ESPN 15, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.

11: Fighters in UFC history to have victories in three different divisions in the modern era. After defeating Munhoz in his 135-pound debut, Edgar now has triumphs at lightweight, featherweight and bantamweight. The other 10: Conor McGregor, Erik Koch, Ildemar Alcantara, George Roop, Diego Sanchez, Kenny Florian, Lucas Martins, Manny Gamburyan, Anthony Pettis and Jared Cannonier.

301: Combined significant strikes laned by Muhnoz (166) and Edgar (135), a new UFC bantamweight record. Muhnoz (105) and Aljamain Sterling (174) set the previous record with 179 at UFC 238. Muhnoz outlanded his opponent 30 to 29 in Round 1, 33 to 24 in Round 3, 35 to 24 in Round 4 and 47 to 33 in Round 5. Edgar, meanwhile, held a 25-to-21 edge in Round 2.

1,703: Career significant strikes landed by Edgar, whose output on Saturday night allowed him to move past Donald Cerrone (1,597) and into third place all-time in that category behind Joanna Jedrzejczyk (1,711) and Max Holloway (2,173).

44: Significant leg strikes landed by Muhnoz. By comparison, Edgar landed just seven significant leg strikes.

7:40:51: Total Octagon time for Edgar, the most in UFC history. Rafael dos Anjos is a distant No. 2 at 6:43:11. Edgar spent a full 25 minutes in the cage with Munhoz on Saturday night.

17: Unofficial media scorecards, of the 21 tracked by MMADecisions.com, who awarded Saturday’s headliner to Munhoz. However, judges Derek Cleary and Eric Colon submitted 48-47 scorecards in favor of Edgar, while Sal D’Amato saw it 49-46 for Muhnoz.

70: Takedowns landed by Edgar in his UFC career, which ranks fourth in promotion history behind Demetrious Johnson (74), Gleison Tibau (84) and GSP (90). Edgar landed two of eight takedown attempts against Munhoz.

11: Career decision wins for Edgar, tied with Gleison Tibua for third in promotion history behind only Georges St. Pierre (12) and Diego Sanchez (12).

9: Career first-round finishes for Mike Rodriguez, who vanquished Marcin Prachnio with an elbow and punches 2:17 into the opening round of their co-main event clash at light heavyweight. Conversely, Prachnio has dropped his first three UFC appearances, all by KO/TKO inside of a round.

7: Submission victories among 10 professional triumphs for Joe Solecki, who tapped Austin Hubbard with a rear-naked choke at the 3:51 mark of Round 1. Rear-naked choke is Solecki’s most popular method, as he has used the maneuver on five occasions thus far.

+800: Odds for Shana Dobson to win against Mariya Agapova, making her the biggest underdog to win in UFC competition since Holly Holm (+870) stopped Ronda Rousey at UFC 193, according to ESPN Stats and Info.

38: Total strikes by which Agapova outlanded Dobson during a furiously-paced opening stanza. Agapova also held a 21-to-5 advantage in significant strikes landed in Round 1.

23: Total strikes by which Dobson outlanded Agapova in Round 2, when she earned a stoppage at the 1:38 mark of the period. Dobson also held a 19-to-1 edge in significant strikes in the round.

3: UFC victories in 2020 for Daniel Rodriguez, who rallied for a knockout victory 2:24 into Round 1 of his welterweight showdown with Dwight Grant. That ties him with Youssef Zalal and Merab Devalishvili for the most wins of any fighter thus far this year.

4: Total knockdowns landed in the matchup between Rodriguez and Grant. Grant struck the first blow and swarmed for the finish, but Rodriguez recovered to record three knockdowns among his 15 significant strikes to earn the stoppage. Grant, meanwhile, landed 30 significant strikes in defeat.

118: Significant strikes landed by Matthew Semelsberger in his UFC debut, a unanimous decision triumph over fellow debutante Carlton Minus at welterweight. By comparison, Minus landed 77 significant strikes.

1,645: Days since Timur Valiev’s last defeat, a split-decision setback against Chris Gutierrez at World Series of Fighting 28 on Feb. 20, 2016. The second-largest favorite on Saturday’s card, Valiev fell to short-notice foe Trevin Jones via second-round TKO in a preliminary 140-pound catchweight affair.

45: Significant strikes by which Valiev outlanded Jones in the opening stanza, when he floored his foe with a body shot and flurried for the finish. During a very efficient Round 1, Valiev landed 53 of 74 attempts, a 70-percent success rate.

40: Significant strike advantage for Valiev over the entire fight. That gives Jones the largest statistical comeback in the UFC in 2020 thus far.
