Three years ago, Francis Ngannou wasn’t ready for the moment. Now, he’s the scariest man in mixed martial arts.

Ngannou claimed heavyweight gold with a second-round knockout of Stipe Miocic in the UFC 260 headliner at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night. In victory, the Cameroonian-born Frenchman avenged a previous loss to Miocic in January 2018 and potentially set up a lucrative showdown with former light heavyweight king Jon Jones later this year.

Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC 260, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.

17: Heavyweight champions in UFC history. Ngannou became the 17th by defeating Miocic, the man with the most successful title defenses in the history of the division.

36: Significant strikes landed by Ngannou. Miocic, meanwhile, landed 12 in defeat. That total included a 28-to-3 advantage in significant strikes to the head.

2: Knockdowns landed by Ngannou, giving him eight during his tenure with the Las Vegas-based promotion.

10: Career KO/TKO wins for Ngannou, moving him into a tie with Cain Velasquez, Michael Bisping, Junior dos Santos and Donald Cerrone for sixth-most in promotion history. That figure also ranks No. 2 at heavyweight behind only Derrick Lewis (12).

1: Takedown landed in two attempts by Ngannou, while Miocic failed on his lone takedown attempt of the fight. In their first meeting at UFC 220, Miocic landed six of 14 takedowns in a five-round decision victory.

5: Consecutive victories for Ngannou, the second longest of his UFC career (He had a six-bout winning streak to kick off his promotional tenure). The current streak is currently tied with Ciryl Gane for the longest active winning streak in the heavyweight division.

12: Finishes in UFC competition for Vicente Luque, tying him with Matt Hughes for the second most in the history of the welterweight division behind Matt Brown (13). Luque submitted former 170-pound king Tyron Woodley with a brabo choke 3:56 into the opening round of Saturday’s co-main event.

.750: Significant striking accuracy for Luque, who landed 25 of 33 attempts in the abbreviated bout. Woodley landed 18 of 40 significant strikes, a 45 percent success rate.

86: Significant strikes landed by Sean O’Malley in a third round knockout win over Thomas Almeida at 135 pounds. By comparison, Almeida landed just 25 significant strikes. O’Malley also scored two knockdowns in the victory.

10: UFC flyweight appearances for Gillian Robertson, the most in the history of the women’s division. In a decision loss to Miranda Maverick, Robertson moved ahead of Roxanne Modafferi and Katlyn Chookagian and into sole possession of the top spot.

44: Significant strikes by which Maverick outlanded Robertson. Maverick also held a 131-to-32 edge in total strikes landed.
