Overeem will lock horns with onetime Bellator MMA and M-1 Global titleholder Alexander Volkov in the UFC Fight Night 184 headliner this Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, as the two behemoths jockey for position in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s heavyweight division. The 40-year-old Overeem has rattled off four wins across his past five outings. He last competed at UFC Fight Night 176, where he put away Augusto Sakai with punches and elbows in the fifth round of their Sept. 5 main event. Volkov, meanwhile, has pieced together a 6-2 record since he joined the UFC roster in November 2016. The 32-year-old Russian last appeared at UFC 254 in October, when he cut down Walt Harris with a second-round body kick and follow-up punches.
As UFC Fight Night “Overeem vs. Volkov” approaches, a look at some of the numbers the fighters on the card have generated to this point:
17: Overeem wins by submission, accounting for 36% of his career total. His methods of choice: eight guillotine chokes, three armbars, three keylocks, one rear-naked choke, one kimura and one Peruvian necktie. Overeem has 25 other victories by knockout or technical knockout.
4: Heavyweight champions, including Volkov, in Bellator history. Cole Konrad, Vitaly Minakov and Ryan Bader are the others. Volkov held the title from Dec. 14, 2012 to Nov. 15, 2013.
2,339: Total strikes landed by Frankie Edgar in UFC competition, placing the onetime lightweight titleholder third on the promotion’s all-time list. He trails only Max Holloway (2,805) and Georges St. Pierre (2,591). Edgar tackles Cory Sandhagen in the bantamweight co-main event.
67: Seconds needed for Sandhagen to dispatch Jose Aguayo with a knee strike and follow-up punches at Legacy Fighting Alliance 31 on Jan. 19, 2018. Having occurred in his final pre-UFC appearance, it remains the fastest finish of his 15-fight career.
43: Years of age for Marion Reneau, who faces “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 28 winner Macy Chiasson in a bantamweight feature. The oldest fighter on the card, she was born on June 20, 1977 in Tulare, California. “Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope” was in its fifth week of release at the domestic box office at the time.
3: Organizations in which Chiasson has competed as professional mixed martial artist. She has gone 4-1 in the UFC, 1-0 in Invicta Fighting Championships and 1-0 under the In Ya Face Productions banner.

It equates to less than four per round. Pantoja now welcomes Angolan mauler Manel Kape to the Octagon in a three-round flyweight showcase.
7: First-round finishes to Kape’s credit, including a 45-second technical knockout of Renato Ferreira in the Rizin Fighting Federation veteran’s second assignment as a pro.
23: Takedowns executed by Cody Stamann in his eight UFC appearances. The Michigan Top Team representative has compiled a 5-2-1 record in those outings, his wins over Brian Kelleher, Alejandro Perez, Bryan Caraway, Tom Duquesnoy and Terrion Ware offset by his draw with Yadong Song and losses to Aljamain Sterling and Jimmie Rivera. Stamann confronts Askar Askar in a featured bantamweight affair.
1: Regional championship on the Askar mantle. The once-beaten Midwest Training Center rep laid claim to the Hoosier Fight Club bantamweight title with a five-round unanimous decision over Dennis Dombrow in November 2018.
2,135: Days since lightweight dark horse Diego Ferreira last tasted defeat. The Fortis MMA export has not lost since being punched out by Dustin Poirier at UFC Fight Night 163 on April 4, 2015. Ferreira puts his six-fight winning streak on the line in a main-card rematch with Beneil Dariush, an opponent to whom he lost in 2014.
13: Dariush victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission, giving the Kings MMA product a robust finish rate of 68%. His list of victims includes Anthony Rocco Martin, Daron Cruickshank, James Vick, Drew Dober, Frank Camacho, Drakkar Klose and Scott Holtzman.
24: Years of age for featherweight prospect Youssef Zalal. The youngest fighter on the card, he was born on Sept. 4, 1996 in Casablanca, Morocco, hence “The Moroccan Devil” nickname he bears. Zalal draws Seung Woo Choi on the undercard.
