As UFC 267 “Blachowicz vs. Teixeira” approaches, a look at some of the numbers the 28 competitors on the card have generated to this point:
6: Knockdowns landed by Blachowicz as a UFC light heavyweight, tying him with Luiz Cane for eighth on the promotion’s all-time list at 205 pounds. Only Chuck Lidddell (14), Mauricio Rua (14), Lyoto Machida (11), Alexander Gustafsson (nine), Khalil Rountree (nine), Quinton Jackson (eight) and Ryan Bader (seven) have recorded more.
42: Years of age for Teixeira. The oldest fighter on the card, he was born on Oct. 28, 1979 in Sobralia, Brazil.
194: Significant strikes landed by Yan in a fifth-round technical knockout of Jose Aldo at UFC 251 on July 11, 2020. It ranks as the second-highest total ever recorded by a bantamweight in a single bout. Sean O’Malley connected on 230 such strikes in his third-round stoppage of Kris Moutinho at UFC 264 on July 10, 2021.
28: Seconds needed for Sandhagen to cut down former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar with a flying knee in their UFC Fight Night 184 co-headliner on Feb. 6, 2021. It remains the fastest finish of the Elevation Fight Team rep’s 17-fight career.
9: Islam Makhachev wins by submission, accounting for 45% of the sambo stylist’s career total (20). His methods of choice: four triangle chokes, two rear-naked chokes, two armbars and one arm-triangle choke. Makhachev confronts Dan Hooker in a three-round lightweight showcase.
12: First-round finishes on the Hooker resume, five of them having taken place inside the Octagon. The City Kickboxing star put away Ian Entwistle with elbows in 3:34 at UFC Fight Night 43, submitted Mark Eddiva with a guillotine choke in 1:24 at UFC Fight Night 85, brought down Jim Miller with a knee strike in 3:00 at UFC Fight Night 128, punched out Gilbert Burns in 2:28 at UFC 226 and knocked out James Vick in 2:33 at UFC on ESPN 4.
22: Alexander Volkov victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 67% of the former Bellator MMA champion’s career total (33). His list of UFC victims: Alistair Overeem, Walt Harris, Fabricio Werdum and Stefan Struve. Volkov locks horns with Marcin Tybura in a three-round heavyweight feature.
19: Takedowns completed by Tybura, placing him third among active UFC heavyweights. The onetime M-1 Global titleholder trails Curtis Blaydes (62) and Stipe Miocic (25).
1,253: Days since Khamzat Chimaev made his professional MMA debut. The undefeated Chechnya-born Swede took care of Gard Olve Sagen with punches in the second round of their May 26, 2018 encounter under the International Ring Fight Arena banner. Chimaev puts his perfect 9-0 record on the line against Jingliang Li in a three-round welterweight attraction.
8: Countries in which Li has competed as a mixed martial artist. “The Leech” has gone 11-2 in his native China, 3-1 in the United States, 2-0 in Singapore, 1-0 in the Philippines, 1-0 in the United Arab Emirates, 0-1 in Canada, 0-1 in Japan and 0-1 in Australia.
165: Total strikes by which Magomed Ankalaev has outlanded the opposition during his current six-fight winning streak. He has connected 287 times while absorbing only 122 return shots in victories over Nikita Krylov, Ion Cutelaba (twice), Dalcha Lungiambula, Klidson Abreu and Marcin Prachnio. Ankalaev carries a 14-1 record into his pivotal light heavyweight battle with Volkan Oezdemir.
7: Sub-minute stoppage victories on the Oezdemir ledger, two of them having taken place since he joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship roster almost five years ago. He punched out Misha Cirkunov just 28 seconds into their UFC Fight Night 109 pairing and sliced through Jimi Manuwa with punches a mere 42 seconds into their UFC 214 confrontation.
25: Years of age for Benoit St. Denis. The youngest fighter on the card, he was born in Nimes, France, on Dec. 18, 1995. The unbeaten Denis will make his promotional debut opposite former Jungle Fight champion Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos in a preliminary welterweight tilt.
.816: Cumulative winning percentage between the 28 fighters booked to compete at the event. They boast a combined record of 451-100-2. Volkov holds the most wins (33) of anyone on the card, while Hooker has been saddled with the most losses (10).
