As UFC 259 “Blachowicz vs. Adesanya” approaches, a look at some of the numbers the fighters on the card have generated to this point:
38: Years of age for Blachowicz. The oldest fighter on the card, he was born on Feb. 24, 1983 in Cieszyn, Poland—a city of some 35,000 people that rests on the east bank of the Olza River.
15: Adesanya wins by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 75% of his career total (20). His long list of victims includes Robert Whittaker, Derek Brunson, Rob Wilkinson, Melvin Guillard and Kenan Song. Adesanya’s five other victories have resulted in decisions.
4: Simultaneous two-division titleholders, including Nunes, in UFC history. Conor McGregor, Daniel Cormier and Henry Cejudo are the others.
72: Inches of reach for Anderson. The former Invicta Fighting Championships titleholder will have a three-inch advantage when she challenges Nunes for the featherweight crown.
2: Fights in which Yan has landed 100 significant strikes or more since he joined the UFC roster in 2018. He connected with 100 of them in a unanimous decision over Jin Soo Son at UFC Fight Night 136 and landed 194 of them in a fifth-round technical knockout of Jose Aldo at UFC 251.
8: Submission wins on the Sterling resume, accounting for 42% of his career total (19). His methods of choice: five rear-naked chokes, one arm-triangle choke, one guillotine choke and one kneebar. Sterling owns two other wins by knockout and nine more by decision.
30: Seconds needed for Islam Makhachev to punch out Tengiz Khuchua at an M-1 Global event on Feb. 12, 2011. Having occurred in the Russian’s second professional appearance, it remains the fastest stoppage win of his 19-fight career. Makhachev draws Drew Dober in a three-round lightweight showcase at UFC 259.
150: Combined victories between the nine men—Beneil Dariush, Olivier Aubin-Mercier, Efrain Escudero, Nick Hein, Sean Spencer, Will Brooks, Ramiro Hernandez, Brandon Girtz and Chase Hackett—who have managed to defeat Dober.
6: Post-fight bonuses banked by Thiago Santos in his 20 appearances under the UFC banner. He has been awarded “Performance of the Night” four times and “Fight of the Night” twice, resulting in $300,000 of additional income. Santos confronts Aleksandar Rakic in a three-round light heavyweight feature on the main card.
7: Countries in which Rakic has competed as a mixed martial artist. He has gone 7-0 in Austria, 2-1 in Germany, 1-0 in the United States, 1-0 in Sweden, 1-0 in Canada, 1-0 in the Netherlands and 0-1 in South Korea.
23: Years of age for Yadong Song. The youngest fighter on the card, he was born on Dec. 2, 1997 in Harbin, China. Song faces fellow bantamweight prospect Kyler Phillips on the undercard.
.805: Cumulative winning percentage between the 30 fighters scheduled to compete at the event. They own a combined record of 453-105-5. Joseph Benavidez owns the most wins (28) of any fighter on the card, while Tim Elliott has been saddled with the most losses (11).
