3. Conor McGregor vs. Frankie Edgar

Before McGregor decided to move up to challenge Rafael dos Anjos for UFC gold at 155 pounds, Edgar was believed to be next in line for a featherweight title shot against the Irishman. McGregor’s awkward striking style and massive punching power might be negated by the in-and-out, side-to-side movement Edgar brings to the table, along with the threat of a takedown. It might boil down to who could get into a rhythm first.

It goes without saying the McGregor has become the sport’s biggest star; and just like the polarizing Floyd Mayweather Jr. in boxing, people either love him or hate him. Edgar is almost impossible to dislike, and he seems to have the perfect style to knock McGregor from his mountaintop. “The Answer” dropped to featherweight after surrendering the UFC lightweight title to Benson Henderson. Following a loss to Jose Aldo, Edgar has pieced together a five-fight winning streak that includes victories over B.J. Penn, Urijah Faber and Chad Mendes.
