The well-traveled Lawler made one appearance under the Pride Fighting Championships flag, and it was brief but undeniably memorable. Villasenor was his dance partner before 11,727 fans at the Thomas & Mack Center, their middleweight encounter kicking off an eight-fight card that was headlined by a rematch between the great Fedor Emelianenko and former UFC heavyweight champion Mark Coleman. Lawler opted for an aerial assault. He pawed with a few jabs, buzzed Villasenor’s tower with a head kick and then drilled him with a perfectly timed flying knee. The Jackson-Wink MMA rep collapsed backward and was met with a series of follow-up punches that forced referee Yuji Shimada to act on his behalf. It was over just 22 seconds after it began.
