5. Tyrone Spong

With only two professional fights under his belt, Spong, also known as “The King of the Ring,” looks like the potential Bo Jackson of MMA.

The Surinamese-Dutch kickboxer is the reigning WFCA cruiserweight muay Thai champion, onetime Glory 95-kilogram Slam Champion and former It’s Showtime 95MAX world champion. However, all of that was put on hold, along with his WSOF tenure, following a freak leg break suffered against Gokhan Saki at a Glory event in April. In two MMA appearances, Spong has been impressive, all while showing plenty of room for improvement. Training with the Blackzilians alongside Rashad Evans, Anthony Johnson and Vitor Belfort will only help his progress.

While Spong has solely fought for the WSOF in MMA, his upside and potential have sparked interest from the UFC. With Spong locked up for the foreseeable future, look for him to fine tune his craft against manageable competition prior to making the inevitable jump to the Octagon.
