5. Keith Peterson

Peterson wrestled his way through high school and college, won a NAGA championship and won titles in muay Thai and amateur MMA. Unlike many referees in combat sports, Peterson is as good as it gets when it comes to enforcing the rules between two combatants.

Peterson needed his fighting skills to prevent anything from happening to him on several occasions, because he’s been taken down, mounted and kicked by knocked-out fighters in his career.

Peterson has been refereeing fights for many years and has been the main guy in the middle of the action for all the local cards in his native New Jersey, as well as for the UFC and Russia’s M-1 Global. His skills as a ref have earned him enshrinement into the New Jersey Martial Arts Hall of Fame as well.
