Only health has managed to keep Cruz down.

“The Dominator” has enjoyed two undisputed reigns atop the Ultimate Fighting Championship bantamweight division, the first interrupted by a series of injuries that limited him to one fight in four years. Cruz reclaimed the 135-pound title in January, when he was awarded a split decision over T.J. Dillashaw at a UFC Fight Night event in Boston. He then returned to the cage at UFC 199 on June 4 and retained his championship with a lopsided five-round decision over longtime rival and Team Alpha Male patriarch Urijah Faber, putting their trilogy to bed while leaving no doubt as to the identity of the superior fighter.

Cruz, 31, will carry a 13-fight winning streak into his next appearance. During his run, the Alliance MMA cornerstone has subdued Faber (twice), Dillashaw, Takeya Mizugaki, Joseph Benavidez and Ian McCall.
