Diaz appearing on a list of volume strikers should come as a surprise to no one. It has been a hallmark of his outstanding career.
A former Strikeforce and World Extreme Cagefighting champion who holds the rank of black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Cesar Gracie, Diaz has made 14 appearances inside the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He has connected with 1,616 total strikes during his UFC tenure and landed 100 or more in seven of those appearances, often taunting opponents while he peppers them with accurate punches of varying intensity.
Diaz was at his best against UFC hall of famer B.J. Penn at UFC 137 in 2011. He battered the Hawaiian with 257 strikes, 178 of them deemed significant. Diaz delivered 127 strikes in the second round alone, a staggering rate of better than 25 per minute.
