History was made on April 8, 2006 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, where Mayweather captured a 12-round unanimous decision over Zab Judah and became just the eighth fighter to win world titles in four weight classes. Awarded 116-112, 117-111 and 119-109 scores by the ringside judges, “Money” took possession of the IBF welterweight championship. CompuBox figures showed Mayweather outlanding Judah 145-59 in power punches and 118-82 overall. The bout was marred by controversy after a low blow and subsequent punch to the back of the head from Judah touched off a melee involving Judah’s father and Mayweather’s uncle in the 10th round. Promoter Don King later argued that Mayweather should have been disqualified because his uncle was the first man to enter the ring. After order was restored, Mayweather picked up where he left off, put it in cruise control and went home with his 36th straight victory.
