Anderson vs. Dumont
Women’s Featherweights
NR | Megan Anderson (10-4) vs. NR | Norma Dumont Viana(4-0)Advertisement
Anderson is a frustrating talent, but the plus side of being in a division as thin as women’s featherweight is that she is never too far from a title shot. The Australian was set to be Cristiane Justino’s first legitimate featherweight test back in 2017, but visa issues derailed those plans and Anderson has struggled to find her footing in the UFC since. There is a lot to like about Anderson, since her combination of power and durability means she can win a firefight with nearly anyone, but she has never rounded out her game much. Getting outwrestled by Holly Holm was fairly damning, and Felicia Spencer got her to the ground and tapped her out without much trouble. On a positive note, she did manage to outgrapple Zarah Fairn dos Santos in October.
Anderson will look to get a winning streak going against a Brazilian newcomer in Dumont, who has not been tested much on the regional scene but has shown off some skills, including enough grappling acumen to give Anderson some theoretical trouble.
For all her flaws, Anderson represents a huge step up in competition for Dumont, and she has every physical advantage. The pick is Anderson via first-round knockout.
