9. Jon Jones vs. Fabricio Werdum-Cain Velasquez 2 Winner
Though it seems unlikely at the moment that former light heavyweight champion Jones will climb into the Octagon at a higher weight anytime soon, it is definitely something “Bones” can pull off. It is also reasonable to believe that the man many view as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the sport can excel at heavyweight, given his height, reach and athleticism. However, before Jones can think about Werdum or Velasquez, he has plenty of unfinished business at 205 pounds. He never lost the light heavyweight championship in the cage, having made a historic run through the division before troubles outside of competition resulted in his being stripped and suspended.
His spirited win over Alexander Gustafsson aside, no one has been able to hang with Jones in the 205-pound weight class. Provided he reclaims the title in a rematch with Daniel Cormier and keeps his personal life in order, would it not be fascinating to see one of the most accomplished fighters of this generation fighting for heavyweight gold against Werdum or Velasquez?
