CASE FOR: One of the most polarizing candidates, Lesnar was the biggest short-term drawing card in North American MMA history. The list of top Ultimate Fighting Championship buy rates of all-time is littered with Lesnar fights, and he was responsible for helping to drive the sport forward during the period of its peak popularity. MMA would have evolved in a completely different way without him. He also was a legitimate force inside the Octagon, where he knocked out Randy Couture, brutalized Frank Mir and handed Shane Carwin his first loss. CASE AGAINST: Lesnar’s career did not last that long and it ended with demolitions at the hands of Alistair Overeem and Cain Velasquez. He never dealt well with getting hit and struggled to recover from a battle with diverticulitis. VERDICT: Should he go in? He was too important to the sport to deny. Yes.
