Few can argue against the idea that Thompson was fed to “Kimbo Slice” by EliteXC in order to capitalize on the internet buzz surrounding the reformed YouTube street-fighter.

While it was not necessarily Ferguson’s skill set that earned him the victory -- Thompson took his opponent to the ground and did some damage in the CBS-televised main event -- several unanswered shots to the ear of “The Colossus” did the trick. Thompson entered the scrap with an extreme case of cauliflower ear on his left lobe, which Ferguson managed to lance with a punch late in the third round, visibly spewing blood everywhere on national television. Much to Thompson’s chagrin, referee Dan Miragliotta stepped in for the technical knockout, leaving many to question the stoppage.
