NR | Gadzhi Omargadzhiev (13-0, 0-0 UFC) vs. NR | Caio Borralho (10-1, 0-0 UFC)Two standouts of this most recent edition of Dana White’s Contender Series clash in an unlikely co-main event. In his first DWCS appearance, Borralho proved he was a UFC-level fighter. Relatively unproven up to that point, the “Natural” put together a well-rounded performance and consistently stayed ahead of Aaron Jeffery, who figured to be among the more UFC-ready talents of the season. For whatever reason, UFC President Dana White was not impressed, so Borralho had to earn the boss’ blessing with one more fight. He stepped in three weeks later and quickly dispatched Jesse Murray to earn a contract. After a few false starts with his UFC debut, Borralho finally makes it to the Octagon against Russia’s Omargadzhiev. The latest Dagestani to hit the UFC, Omargadzhiev has the game you would expect. He is a solid striker with some knockout power but starts to shine once he gets to his wrestling. He does not appear to be such an overwhelming athlete that a win here is a lock, particularly with how sound Borralho looked against Jeffery. There is a possibility that the Brazilian can stall Omargadzhiev out and turn this into the toughest fight of the Russian’s career. However, the most likely outcome still figures to be Omargadzhiev successfully turning this into a grind and getting the win from there. The pick is Omargadzhiev via decision.
