Dong Hun Choi (8-0, 0-0 UFC) vs. Kierandip Singh Sahota (12-2, 0-0 UFC)

ODDS: Choi (-135), Singh Sahota (+114)

Two flyweights vie for a UFC contract here. Fighting out of England and representing his Indian heritage, Sahota cuts an impressive figure as a 5-foot-10 flyweight. Throughout the “Road to UFC” tournament, Sahota has been able to use that frame to great effect when it comes to frustrating opponents. He might not have the physical strength to play bully and his ability to keep opponents at range has been spotty, but his foes have had just as much trouble controlling someone so much larger than the norm. After two decision wins, Sahota faces South Korea’s Choi, who won two coinflip decisions himself to reach this final. Choi has been solid if uninspiring, able to leverage his physical strength into fighting behind a style that’s low on pace but high on power. That makes this pairing an odd proposition. Choi has the horsepower to control Sahota in a grind and land some hard offense. However, he fights at such a slow pace that Sahota could win rounds just by throwing out a lot of awkward ideas. Choi has skated by on his game thus far and Sahota is probably his least athletic opponent of the tournament to date, so the Korean gets the benefit of the doubt, even if it won’t be pretty. The pick is Choi via decision.
