Despite its obvious shortcomings, the heavyweight division has housed some of the most accomplished fighters in mixed martial arts history. Randy Couture, Fabricio Werdum, Cain Velasquez and Brock Lesnar have all climbed the mountain in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, while Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fedor Emelianenko did the same in Pride Fighting Championships. Alistair Overeem flew the flag for Strikeforce, Antonio Silva for EliteXC, Vitaly Minakov for Bellator MMA and Roy Nelson for the International Fight League.
