Over the past month, MM-Eh! has offered readers the opportunity to put forward questions to UFC interim welterweight champion, Georges St. Pierre (Pictures). Less than a week away from his rematch with UFC champion Matt Serra (Pictures) in Montreal, 26-year-old fighter took time to respond to you.
St. Pierre: It would have been my cousin, who unfortunately passed away last year after going into a coma following a car accident. He was extremely athletic and had a tremendous desire to learn. He would have been around 20 right now.
Question: Is there anyone in MMA you seriously dislike and would like to fight him just to teach him a lesson and shut him up (excluding Serra)? - Jay
St. Pierre: Nobody that I really don't like. There are some people that I don't like what they have said about me, but when I fight them, I'm going to fight with my heart and not my anger.
Question: Hi Georges you are my hero. With that out of the way, would you ever consider moving up to face Anderson Silva, the only other person that really compares with you as far as pound-for-pound best fighter? If so what do you think your best weapon would be against him? Your wrestling, jiu-jitsu, or stand up? People want to see this fight more than Fedor vs. Randy.
St. Pierre: First, thank you very much. As far as moving up, right now I'm on a mission -- I want to get back my belt. And many of my training partners are middleweights going up to fight Anderson Silva. But I never say never, and one day if the way is clear, I may move up to fight him -- but right now, I'm a welterweight fighter.
Question: How much do you normally weigh on the day of the fight, after re-hydrating? -Thomas Koprowski
St. Pierre: About 185-186 pounds.
Question: Who taught you that beautiful hip toss you used on Hughes in the rubber match? Are you learning Judo or was that from another discipline?
St. Pierre: John Danaher taught me that BJJ move two years ago.
Question: How much would it cost me to train up in Canada with your camp? - Rene Ureta
St. Pierre: Funny you should ask. My manager is actually putting together a training camp program for people interested in training with the same trainers I use. I don't know the exact cost yet, but there will be information on my Web site (www.GSPFightClub.com) once it's available.
Question: What's your favorite place to eat in Montreal that nobody knows about? - Michael Neszt
St. Pierre: When I'm not training, I really love McDonald's. If I want something nicer to eat, I like Cavalli.
Question: Does Ivan Menjivar (Pictures) still train with you and if so, is he planning on fighting in the near future?
St. Pierre: Right now he's injured -- waiting for surgery -- but he's very young, and he'll be back soon.
Question: Rumor has it that you're quite the dancer. I believe Bruce Lee once said that dancers have all the tools to be great martial artists. Has dancing helped you progress in MMA and by how much? - Dave Phung
St. Pierre: I don't think it has anything to do with MMA. Sometimes to be a dancer, you just have to be athletic and have the will to learn, and I'm an athletic person and enjoy learning new things. So while it's the same skills for both, I don't think one really helps the other. (If you've seen some of the other fighters on the dance floor, you'd understand).
