With Jaw Wired Shut, John Makdessi Delivers Message to His Fans

John Makdessi had a rough day at the office at UFC 187, as his jaw was broken courtesy of a Donald Cerrone headkick in the second round of their lightweight encounter. Makdessi asked out of the contest immediately thereafter, bringing an end to the bout at the 4:44 mark of the period.

It appears that the Tristar Gym product is already on the road to recovery, however, as he recently took to social media to issue a message to his fans. The words didn’t come easily, however, as Makdessi’s jaw remains wired shut from the injury suffered in his May 23 bout.

“Hey guys, I just want to reach out to all my fans. Thank you so much for all the comments and support,” Makdessi said through clenched teeth. “Three more weeks left, and for you guys wondering the way I speak, this is the way I speak. Thank you, guys.”

Makdessi also posted a short video of him training with his jaw wired shut on Instagram:

#MartialArts is a way of #living. Continuous #growth and #progression is the only way for #inner #excellence. #training with mouth wired shut(Wires are screwed in) finished off the video for those of you who were curious how it looks.
