In the wildest fight of the night at UFC Fight Night “McDonald vs. Lineker,” surging lightweight contender Tony Ferguson survived an all-out war with late replacement Landon Vannata.
Ferguson rocked his foe early but he was nearly knocked out in the opening round when he was dropped by a head kick. Ferguson literally stumbled all across the Octagon, falling and standing up several times as Vannata chased him down. Vannata couldn’t seal his fate, though, and paid for it when he gassed out in the second and fell victim to a D’Arce choke. The end came officially at 2:22 of the second, giving Vannata the first loss of his pro career.
