Tyron Woodley, on “Beatdown,” discussing the mistakes that fighters have made against Jake Shields:
“Why are these guys clinching him? Why are these guys putting him on the cage? Why are they going to take him down and try to submit him? He’s not even really giving them respect for their submissions. They’re around his throat, and he’s still going for the shot. I think they just didn’t have a good game plan and the guys underestimated him. Don’t get me wrong: I’m not underestimating him. I’ll be in the best shape of my life because I have to be. It’s going to be closer to wrestling condition. That’s a different type of conditioning than just MMA. I’m giving him his credit because he’s earned it. He’s a world-class fighter because he’s proved it, but by no means do I plan on losing or do I plan on this going 15 minutes.”
