Cristiane Santos has not fought in more than a year, but it appears as though she is very much part of the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s plans to incorporate women into the Octagon.

Santos received a one-year suspension from the California State Athletic Commission in response to a positive test for suspected steroid use following her encounter with Hiroko Yamanaka under the Strikeforce banner in December 2011. Afterward, “Cyborg” was stripped of her title. In her absence, Ronda Rousey emerged as the new face of the women’s mixed martial arts movement, capturing Strikeforce gold at 135 pounds and forcing the UFC to open its doors to female mixed martial artists.

With the public clamoring for a Rousey-Santos showdown, talk has turned to whether or not the Brazilian can make a successful weight cut from 145 to 135 pounds. According to published reports, the UFC has offered her the services of Mike Dolce, the man behind “The Dolce Diet.”
