Combate Americas announced on Wednesday afternoon that the promotion has tacked on three more fights to its New York show on Oct. 14.
A bantamweight tussle between Irwin Rivera and Cristobal Chavez has also been announced, as has a women’s atomweight affair pitting Paulina Granados against Jenna Serio.
Martinez is coming off a split decision loss to Erick Gonzalez in April at Combate Americas: Road to the Championship 4. Before that, the Texan had won two in a row and six of seven overall, with five of those wins coming by way of knockout.
Sanchez, meanwhile, has won his last three, all by either submission or knockout. He’s flip-flopped between Combate Americas and Bellator during that span and like his upcoming foe, he’s also won six of his previous seven battles inside the cage. The last time the Sacramento fighter competed, he subbed Mike Segura via rear-naked choke in just 50 seconds.
Combate Americas “Empire Rising” will be headlined by the promotion’s first-ever championship bout when John “Sexy Mexy” Castaneda opposes Gustavo Lopez for the vacant bantamweight title.
More fights will be announced for the card in the coming weeks.
