Diego Sanchez eked out a controversial split verdict over “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 9 winner Ross Pearson in the UFC Fight Night “Henderson vs. Khabilov” co-main event on Saturday at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, N.M. The victory halted a two-fight losing streak for Sanchez, who has gone the distance in each of his last eight appearances.

According to preliminary FightMetric figures, Pearson out-landed Sanchez in terms of total strikes and significant strikes in all three rounds. The Alliance MMA-trained Englishman also delivered the only takedown of the fight. Judge Marcos Rosales scored it 30-27 for Pearson, but judges Jeff Collins and Chris Tellez sided with Sanchez by 30-27 and 29-28 scores. The masses were in an uproar.
