The Chelsea Ballroom inside the magnificent Cosmopolitan Las Vegas will be the site of Saturday night’s Showtime Championship Boxing tripleheader. With three of the four junior middleweight world titles at stake, it promises to be a memorable night of action inside the squared circle.
Fighting in his second world title bout, the Armenian-born Martirosyan (36-2-1, 21 KOs) was the first to step onto the scale and he nailed it, weighing officially at 153.75 pounds. Lara (22-2-2, 13 KOs) wouldn’t disappoint as he checked in at 153.5 pounds.
In the co-main event, Houston’s Jermall Charlo (23-0, 18 KOs) will put his IBF 154-pound crown and unbeaten record on the line against former world champ Austin Trout. The Las Cruces, N.M. has been saying for months that he has re-dedicated himself to the sport and at the weigh-ins, he looked better than ever. Trout (30-2, 17 KOs) tipped the scale at 154 pounds. Charlo, meanwhile, came in at a ready 153 pounds.
Finally, Jermell Charlo (27-0, 12 KOs) will take on John Jackson (20-2, 15 KOs) for the vacant WBC junior middleweight belt. Jackson weighed in at 153.5 pounds while Charlo came in at 153.25.
