Heading into the fifth round of his co-main event showdown with Rory MacDonald at UFC 189, the welterweight champion was behind 39-37 on all three judges’ scorecards. However, Lawler saved himself from an agonizing decision defeat by crushing MacDonald with a straight left to the nose 60 seconds into the final frame.
