PVT Mag 36: They're Coming to the UFC

Marcelo AlonsoNov 14, 2012

In the MMA environment, women share the space with men, crowding gyms and filling up fights. However, inside the cage, there still aren’t nearly as many women fighting in MMA, and certainly not in the UFC. However, this may change soon.

Olympic judo bronze medalist Ronda Rousey’s dominance in MMA, with all of her wins by armbar, has finally broken down UFC president Dana White, who has granted women a space in the Octagon. Though far from official, the MMA world is already considering a superfight between Rousey and former Strikeforce 145-pound champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos.

In PVT Mag 36, we discuss the imminent arrival of female MMA to the UFC. We analyze Dana White’s claims that Rousey is primarily responsible for making him change his mind on women’s MMA and suggest 10 females that could help the UFC get women’s MMA off the ground.

Also, we bring a special, unprecedented interview with Cristiane Santos, as well as the comments of Kyra Gracie, who is now interested in the UFC, and Wallid Ismail, promoter of Pink Fight, Brazil’s only all-women MMA event.
