Mike Winkeljohn: Carlos Condit’s Strategy for GSP Same as Greg Jackson Would Have Employed

Mike Winkeljohn, on “Rewind,” discussing the role trainers will play in the UFC 154 welterweight title unification bout between Georges St. Pierre and Carlos Condit:

“I don’t think it would have changed anything if Greg [Jackson] would have been there. I think we would have had the same strategy we’re going with today. Greg and I have been together for so long, so I don’t think it would change that much. With Georges, I don’t know if Georges’ strategy would change that much. The guys that are running [St. Pierre’s] camp, they understand what’s going on. I think the fact that Greg stepped back is great. Honestly, Georges hasn’t been down to the gym but a couple of times in the last three years. He’s been up training with all the guys in Montreal, so he hasn’t picked up on what we do in camp. He’s not training every day with our footwork, with our style, with our defenses. It’s going to be an exciting fight.”
