Johny Hendricks, on “Beatdown,” discussing whether he was coasting in the fifth round of his title bout against Georges St. Pierre:
“No. … I checked a kick of his, and whenever I checked a kick of his, it popped my knee. Whenever I was getting up in the fifth round, I felt it give out and so I was … smiling because one, I thought I clearly had it won. Two, I was like, How am I going to push through something like this? Because whenever I stood up, it felt like it gave out. I didn’t want to put too much pressure on it because if you throw and your knee does give out on you and you fall to the ground, well, Georges is going to see that, and he might take advantage of that.”
