John Pollock Joins Press Row

Every Wednesday, Administrative Editor Jordan Breen welcomes a member of the mixed martial arts media into “Press Row” on the Sherdog.com blog. This week, Breen is joined by The Fight Network's John Pollock.

This past Tuesday, news broke that the Ultimate Fighting Championship, ahead of its changeover to WME-IMG's ownership in 2017, were firing a massive amount of employees. Breen and Pollock look at the UFC's mass employee exodus and what it actually means for how WME-IMG plans to do business, specifically what it means for the UFC's schedule and how often the once-coveted Canadian MMA market will be graced by UFC cards, after becoming accustomed to three events a year, several years running.

The pair also look into how the expected WME-IMG reduction in UFC events and international ventures will alter not just the UFC schedule, but it's forthcoming round of television rights negotiations and most pressingly this week, what the future of MMA legend Georges St. Pierre is and why “Rush” has a profoundly unique chance to challenge the UFC's long-maligned contractual language.

Grab your credential and get a seat in “Press Row.”
